Ever heard of Movember? Well it’s a charity event that aims to raise money for prostate cancer, and this year the Ubelly team are all taking part.

All of the team members that can are growing a moustache throughout the month of November, raising friends and attempting to raise the profile of male prostate cancer research.

If you want to donate then you can do so here. Please do… every donation large or small is appreciated.

It wouldn’t be Ubelly if we didn’t try and shoehorn some technology into everything we do and so inspired by html5 glasses with the help of our friends at Governor we built a HTML5 movember video demo which you can see below. You simply choose the Ubelly team member and then select a moustache to see the moustache superimposed on the video. The demo uses a JavaScript facial recognition algorithm to figure out where the moustache should be placed. We are still working on improving the demo and there are a couple of browsers that have trouble with the demo (Opera won’t show the tash and Chrome fails after about 30 seconds) we are looking into these bugs and hope to have them fixed soon. If you can figure out how to fix them let us know on twitter @ubelly.

Over the next week we will dissect the demo and show you how we built it using HTML5 Video, Canvas and JavaScript.

Entertaining. All you need now is some kind of tracking/recognition for headsets,

My webcam has pretty much the same software built in…however its nice to see it integrated into a browser and over prerecorded footage. So Kudos!
