February saw Ubelly take over Big Chill House in London for our first Ignite Ubelly event. We had an amazing lineup of speakers talk about everything from design to watches to coffee to girls they met on a train, and had almost 100 people cram into a tiny room to listen, have a few drinks and a good chat. After almost six months, we’re very pleased to announce that on the 30th of August, we’re bringing Ubelly Ignite back for a second helping!
We’re opening speaker submissions to the community again (details of which are below), but to get the ball rolling we’ve got our hands on a couple of great speakers already including Matt Ballantine from Microsoft (who stormed it at Ignite Shoreditch last month), cellist and technical wizard Peter Gregson (who delivered a rather thoughtful keynote at Reasons to be Appy a few months ago) and Clare Sutcliffe, co-founder of Code Club, a new initiative to inspire kids to learn to code!
We’ll also have a couple of Ubelly and Microsoft folks there who you can chat to about the world, Windows 8 or what they had for breakfast, and for any developers in the crowd, you’ll be able to chat to them about some of the awesome stuff we’ve got coming up over the next little while before general release (of Windows 8, not your breakfast).
We’ll be taking over Ballyhoo on New Oxford St on August 30th from 6.30pm, and you can reserve your place via Eventbrite below!
*NOTE: Unfortunately Ignite Ubelly is an over 18s event, as Ballyhoo is a licensed venue. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes!*
But wait! Want to speak at Ignite Ubelly?
Want to get involved and actually speak at Ignite Ubelly? All you need to do is submit your idea for your talk below before Friday 17th August and we’ll select a bunch of them to speak at Ignite Ubelly! For those unfamiliar with the Ignite concept, Ignite talks are 5 minutes long, with each talk being accompanied by 20 slides that auto advance every 15 seconds. In terms of topics, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s something you’re passionate about!
