July is traditionally a pretty quiet month for events as people slope off to grab some sun (let’s face it there’s not much chance of getting sunburn here in Blighty). However, this July bucks the trend with some pretty exciting web, mobile and design events in the UK and Europe.
4 to 7 July – WebVisions Barcelona
Billed as “the creative conference for the Web”, WebVisions hits Barcelona for 3 days of workshops, sessions and keynotes from experts in web, mobile, UX and strategy, like Kelly Goto, Jeremy Keith and Nathan Shedroff.
5 July - PHP London
If you’ve an interest in PHP then head over to the PHP London meet-up, a non-profit group promoting best practices amongst yep, you’ve guessed it, PHP developers in London.
7 July – Dev4Good
Fancy spending a weekend tackling real-world problems that could change the way people live their lives? Dev4Good gives developers and designers the chance to get together and build solutions for UK charities.
7-8 July – BarCamp Berkshire
BarCamp Berkshire is a free weekend un-conference for designers, developers and geeks of all types. Get the chance to speak about your passion and listen to others, with some fun and hacks in between.
14 July UXCamp London
UXCampLondon is a free-to-attend barcamp for UX specialists. Get together with like minded people for a day of presentations, workshops and ideas sharing.
14 – 15 July – WordCamp Edinburgh UK 2012
Organised by the WordPress community, WordCamps are for WordPress users and developers to share ideas and get to know each other. Held last year in Portsmouth, the camp continues its tradition of moving round the country and lands in Edinburgh for 2012.
18 July Oxford Geek Night
The infamous Oxford Geek Nights give local web developers and designers the chance to get together, share ideas and skills. Each event comprise two keynote talks of 15 minutes each – this month’s keynote is ‘Designing for everyone’ by Paul Annett and Tim Paul, from the Government Digital Service and gov.uk. There are also micro-slots where volunteers get to give a 5 minute presentation.
24 July – BLAB11
Live in Manchester? BLAB11 is a monthly meetup where digital creatives from in and around Manchester can get away from their screens and talk to other digital creatives.Simples!
31 July – 2 August – CSS Summit
Now in it’s fourth year, this 3 day online summit covering all things CSS brings a host of experts in CSS3 and SASS, including Rachel Andrew and Brandon Satrom, straight to your desktop.
