The Kinect Effect

So, whilst I’m here giving you an update on the Kinect for Windows SDK I thought I’d link to a video that has been released by the Xbox team to highlight some of the incredible projects that have been imagined and then created by people around the world. From gaming to music to medicine, the areas that have been explored by developers to show where Kinect could be used to assist levels of interaction are spreading.

As Alex Kipman (one of the founding fathers of Kinect said) ‘if you can do something in the real world then you can do something in Kinect’s world’. One of the goals with Kinect was to make technology disappear. As the technology disappears we no longer need to learn how it works, instead, the technology is learning how we work. That thought I’m still finding very exciting.
