Windows recently released the Windows Server Solutions Phone Connector and Windows Phone app ‘My Home Server’ – allowing you to access and manage your home server straight from you Windows Phone.
The Windows Server Solutions Phone Connector add-in enables you to connect to your home, business, or storage server simply by using your Windows Phone. This allows you to integrate Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials into your mobile device.
After integration of the service, you can use your phone to perform remote server management tasks; such as view alerts, manage users, and start and stop backups. You’ll also be able to use your phone to access media files stored on the server. Pretty useful when you are out and about.
You’ll need the app (get it here) and a server sided add-in (get it here) to get this bad boy working. It’s all free. Enjoy!
Windows Home Server is a great way to protect your data. However you are still vulnerable to physical disk failures and inadvertent deletions. CloudBerry Backup for Windows Home Server provides you with another level of protection by copying your data to secure online storage powered by Amazon S3.
