The Imagine Cup 2011

‘Solve the world’s toughest problems using cutting edge technology’. It’s an ambitious mission – but, now in its ninth year, The Imagine Cup aims to do just that. Microsoft created the Imagine Cup nine years ago with the idea that students can and will change the world.

The Imagine Cup competition spans one year, bringing together students from all around the world and encouraging them to let their creativity flow for the good of the planet. Last week the competition culminated in an exciting final – you can find the winners for all categories here.

Unfortunately, our UK teams, Project OVE – University of Manchester (representing Software Design) by Samuel Van Lieshout; JP Lacerda; Damo Walsh and Cycling Into Trees – University of York (representing Embedded Development) by Kevin Pfister (Child Sleep Safe) didn’t win, but the experience of participating in the Imagine Cup was something they’ll never forget. Damien Walsh, one of the UK Software Design Finalists wrote this blog post on his experiences.

If you’re a student and fancy your chances in 2012, register here.
