Mango : Push & Live Tiles

Push & Live Tiles

In this 10 minute interview, Brandon Watson talks with Program Manager Thomas Fennel about push and live tile functionality for Windows Phone. This gives users a deeper integration with their apps, the push of information to tiles and the flipping of tiles to show off other information.

They talk about the difficulties of implementing live tiles to the operating system but Its nice to hear that this functionality was driven by developer feedback. Developers are using live tiles to push local traffic information, Twitter mentions and direct messages.

Again, the cloud computing service is part of what makes push services possible and the team are constantly working on improvements to speed, performance and reliability.
