Hidden memes – 241543903

I was doing some trawling of the interwebs yesterday and came across a rather strange meme. Now, as mentioned before numerous times, I happen to be a fan of memes in general. However, this one struck me as a little… different.

Now, most memes have some kind of logical backstory. Keanu was snapped on a bench looking sad, therefore Sad Keanu. Antoine Dodson gave one of the best local news interviews ever, therefore Bed Intruder Song. Some dude had a near-religious experience on seeing two rainbows close to each other, therefore Double Rainbow.  It all makes sense, really.

Now, go to an image search engine and type in 241543903

Not what you were expecting?

The weird thing is that there is no background on how the meme started, what the significance of the number is or why people like to place their heads in refrigerated environments. Even the ‘official’ website at http://241543903.com/ doesn’t know. Looking at their about page, they even state “Nobody knows when and where 241543903 started.”

It’s a weird one to be completely honest. There seems to be absolutely no pop culture reference or funny source material, as there usually is. My bet is on some strange art project to see if someone can get a ‘viral’ by doing something random. That or it’s a clever guerilla marketing ploy by freezer sellers everywhere…

However, being one to immediately down the kool-aid, I think that Ubelly needs to get in on the action.

The weirdest thing about this article is that you used Bing as your search engine. The meme is pretty weird, though.

Well, this is an “unofficial official Microsoft blog” so go figure.

…google loaded it faster for me by the way…

    But, dude, awesome meme!

Don’t know about Bing but google gave me the full origins of this meme. http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/241543903-heads-in-freezers has the name of the creator and the explanation of the numbers.
