Umbraco at Le Web

Umbraco
An intro on Umbraco for Le Web, the ‘friendly’ CMS…

Who are Umbraco?

The web CMS built with simplicity in mind and flexible enough for any scenario, popular due to its no-cost, open-source licensing and simplicity. Umbraco provides a full-featured web content management system that is easy to use, simple to customize, and robust enough to run the largest sites such as wired.co.uk and asp.net.

What’s brilliant about Umbraco?

They’re really innovative. They’ve got a killer Windows Phone 7 app that allows you to manage your content on the go, they’ve also embraced the cloud – meaning developers can deploy to an architecture that lets them scale their sites at low-cost, in an easy way. For instance imagine you’re developing microsite for a marketing campaign, a short-lived but very high traffic project where visitor numbers will fluctuate wildly. Imagine not having to spend time forecasting all the numbers so you can focus on building the site to the best that it can be. That’s why Umbraco chose to build on Windows Azure.

In addition they’re building from the ground-up in version 5, to embrace .NET advancements such as MVC3.

Andy’s so into web there’s a suspicion he’s actually Peter Parker MK II. Having spent a couple of years at the Microsoft mothership in Seattle you’ll most probably hear him rambling about business opportunity, experiences that ‘pop’ but most probably just something about music.
