There are some great games on Windows Phone 7 – some are Xbox LIVE games so you can collect points by playing the game on your phone, and others are not connected to Xbox at all. Here’s a run down of our top 10 favourites.
1. Star Wars: Battle for Hoth – £3.99 |
| Defend the rebellion’s Echo Base from Darth Vader and his forces using guile, strategy and reflexes (cat like of course). Includes original music, sounds and video footage plus weapons and units from the Star Wars universe including AT-AT walkers, SnowSpeeders, Ion Cannons, X-Wing fighters and Laser cannons. May the Hoth be with you… |
2. Cowabunga- £0.79 |
| Help the cows cross the flooded pasture and get back to their barn by bouncing them from one cliff to another. Collect points for every successful bounce and watch those cows fly! Sadistic fun. |
3. Rocket Riot- £5.49 |
| Face the weirdest enemies you’ve ever encountered in this fast paced side-view shooter game. Blast your way through a completely destructible environment and burrow into different areas of the map. Brilliant. |
4. The Sims 3 - £5.49 |
| Who’s got the most friends? Who’s made the most money? Create a Sim that reflects your personality – or someone completely different – and watch them come to life. As with other Xbox LIVE games, use your existing Xbox LIVE account to top up your scores or create a new gamertag to collect your scores. Long live The Sims! |
5. Unite – Free |
| Classic balance board game that uses Windows Phone 7 motion control to guide the balls through obstacles and Unite them as quickly as you can. Get past walls, blocks, spinning bars and portals – but don’t go too fast or gravity will be your enemy! I loved this game as a kid and this is even better. |
6. Bomb Diffuser – Free |
| Stuck on some code and need a 5 minute break? Try Bomb Diffuser as a fun distraction. Deploy your super sharp reactions to diffuse the red glowing bombs to diffuse them. Fast paced and a great time filler when you’re waiting for appointments or need a distraction. |
7. Sudoku – Free |
| OK, I’ll admit it, I’m one of those people you see on the train pouring over the Sudoku puzzle at the back of the Metro, so I’m happy to see there’s Sudoku for my Windows Phone 7. This version has loads of games at different levels as well as hints. Fab. |
8. Tetris – £3.99 |
| Classic game available on your phone with variations like Origin, Treadmill and Gravity. Clear lines by filling every square in a row using Marathon Mode or unlock up to 12 different variations through Tetris achievements like making 4 line clears in one game or clearing 400 lines. Catch the play of the world’s best and learn from them. Great game. |
9. IonBall – £2.49 |
| Players battle across 35 levels of relentless mechanoids, drones and bricks, culminating in intense battles against 7 of the meanest mechanical bosses you’ve ever seen. Watch out for the Boss levels, which break away from the traditional sets of bricks, presenting a completely different strategy for the player to overcome in order to complete the level. Genius. |
10. Flowerz – Free |
| This game needs some planning to make sure your garden flourishes – set up ‘matches’ and ‘cascades’ and strategise your placements to get the highest scores. You also get to play either standard or expert mode. Great for green fingered geeks. |
